Alyssa's first acting role was in the stage musical Annie,on Broadway, when she was just eight years old.
The young star became familiar small-screen face in the United States when, aged 11, she landed the role of Samantha Micelli in TV sitcom Who's The Boss?,also staring Tony Danza.
Alyssa was a teen pop sensation in Japan, with five platinum albums. "One time, I was with my dad. We got into limo and looked back, and there were 500 Japanese fans running after us," she recalls. "My dad said, 'This is your Beatles moment!"
