Once branded as a wild child, Shannen Dohert plays down the feisty image.
After finding small-screen fame in the early 1990s as Brenda in the late Aaron Spelling's Beverly Hills, 90210, Shannen Doherty's next encounter withe the producer saw her learning about the occult and stepping into the shoes of a sensible oldest Halliwell sister, Prue. The serious Charmed One couldn't be less like the wild child Shannen's been portrayed as in the media. But this image, she assures us, is old hat. These days she's a big softy who spends her spare time scrubbing floors and eating pancakes....

One thing's for sure, being Shannen Doherty is anything but boring. As well as a colourful personal life, the busy star has had a varied career too, after deciding to become an actress at just seven years old!
It took Shannen two years to convince her parents that she wanted to act, and at the age of 10 she landed her first television role, as Drusilla Shannon in the US drama series Farther Murphy.
An appearance on Farther Murphy caught the attention of Little House On The Pairie star Michael Landon and she was cast as Jenny Wilder in the show's final series.
Following Little House, Shannen landed a part in the 1985 comedy movie Girls Just Want To Have Fun, alongside Sharah Jessica Parker and Helen Hunt.
After a stint on US drama Our House, Shannen's next big-screen role was as Heather Duke in the 1989 black comedy movie Heathers, with Winona Ryder and Chrisian Slater.
Her performance in Heathers impressed Tori Spelling, who recommended Shannen for Aaron Spelling's new high-school soap opera Beverly hills, 90210. She was cast as a tearaway teen Brenda Walsh and became a household name, starring in the show from 1990 to 1994.
In 1995 she beat Alyssa Milano to the role of Rene Mosier in Kevin Smith's movie Mallrats.
Since starring as Prue on Charmed, Shannen has taken her career in a new direction as a reality TV host. She has fronted the US Sci Fi channel's prank show. Scare Tactics, and in August 2006 she lanuched a new show. Breaking Up With Shannen Doherty on the American Oxygen network.
